Purpose Statement

To provide for the prevention and care of athletic injuries for interscholastic athletic teams. Coordinates efforts with team, athlete, parents and physicians/specialist to provide therapeutic rehabilitation in an attempt to expedite the athletes return to competition while keeping the student's mental and physical welfare as the top priority. To provide instruction in care and prevention of athletic injuries, first aid, and CPR to coaches.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

SKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: administering first aid/CPR; preparing and maintaining accurate records; adhering to safety practices; and operating standard office equipment using pertinent software applications.

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: areas of regimented drill and physical exercise activities; and safety practices and procedures.

ABILITY is required to schedule activities, meetings, and/or events; gather and/or collate data; and use job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with a variety of data; and utilize job-related equipment. Independent problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is moderate. Responsibility

Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods; directing Essential Functions Administers first aid and CPR for the purpose of providing participants with treatment in emergency situations. Attends meetings, workshops, and training sessions (e.g. parent meetings, staff meetings, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering current information required to perform functions. Work Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some climbing and balancing, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 20% sitting, 40% walking, and 40% standing. The job is performed under temperature variations and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
